The Socialite and the Bodyguard - Dana Marton Former marine/commando/black ops/etc. has to protect a popcorn empire heiress and media darling’s precious poodle Tsini. The dog has received some threats and she needs to be protected. But the pet detective gig takes a different turn when the heiress turns out to be completely different from the blond airhead persona portrayed in the media, and he realizes that she is the one in real danger. This was a surprisingly good read given the premise. Just the fact Kayla wasn’t an airhead princess with a purse dog, endeared me to her, and made me look the other way when she pulled a TSTL title-worthy stunt somewhere in the middle of the book. It was the middle of the night, she was exhausted, frightened, and has just woken up from a weird dream. Silliness was to be expected.Good pacing, good narrative style, wonderful hero (*drool drool*), wonderful hero-worthy heroine, cuter than cute pet, and great suspense and tension, and an ending I didn’t see coming.I absolutely loved the epilogue. A hilarious, and rather fitting ending to the story.
